Surf Paddles Hoe Nalu (Surfing Paddle)
Long paddle surfing is an ancient sport of the Hawai'ian Ali'i (royalty) which is seeing a massive renaissance in California and Hawai'i.  Kalai is at the forefront of this new upsurge thanks to technical input from the surfers themselves.

There are three present blade models, the Manu Nui, The Puhi and the Pueo; each of these can be ordered full or as a 2-piece take-apart model.  The average overall shaft length ordered is 80", but I can make whatever length you want.

Kayak Paddles Kayak Paddles
Kalai Kayak paddles are hand-crafted with a blend of exotic and domestic woods, achieving great strength, light weight and unparalleled beauty.  They average a mere 32 to 35 ounces in weight, despite blades re-inforced with fiberglass cloth and four coats of marine grade epoxy for strength and durability.

Wood paddles have the unique benefit of flexing gently with each stroke, reducing stress to your wrists, elbows and joints, and the wood is much warmer to the touch than a fiberglass shaft.

The blades of my kayak paddles are assymetric and very efficient.  I can also custom make the blade shape to your specs.  Length is up to you, as is your choice of a full paddle, or 2-piece (with a fiberglass ferrule).
Canoe Paddles Recreational Canoe Paddles
I designed these Otter Tail and Beaver Tail paddles according to Native paddle designs from Ontario and Quebec, the birth places of what we now commonly call a recreational canoe.  The Native people perfected both canoe and paddle designs, so all that I can do is make them pretty.

These paddles are made from a combination of exotic and domestic woods, and are very light, with a gentle 'whip' action, reducing stress on your elbows and shoulders.
